Opportunity International Network

When poverty is a way of life, people’s potential is often overshadowed by the struggle to survive. But when equipped with the right tools, even the most vulnerable are able to change their own world and create a better future for their children. Opportunity International stands alongside over 2.5 million clients with a mission to provide those tools—the financial products, educational programs and business training they need to move beyond poverty and build a more stable, secure and fulfilling life.

Shanghai Small Animal Protection Association (SSAPA)

Shanghai Small Animal Protection Association (SSAPA), a branch of Shanghai Veterinary Medical Association, is the only animal welfare related NGO in Shanghai approved by the city government (registered in year 2003 under license number 37). Petunion is the public forum (in Chinese) that SSAPA manages to allow animal lovers to exchange rescue and animal welfare information. SSAPA strives to build the communication bridge between the masses of animal-lovers and the related government departments. We seek to improve the general public’s awareness of animal protection and welfare, to learn about animals, learn to respect them, be kind to them, improve the living conditions of companion animals, and to work with the local government to promote the concepts of responsible pet ownership, which includes abiding to the law for both animal lovers and non-lovers, to promote a more tolerant and harmonized society.
