This social venture works with more than 2,600 rural families (they have organized fiber cooperatives in Qinghai from which they directly source yak fiber, as well as hand knitting cooperatives that produce many of Shokay’s pieces.), enabling them to earn a sustainable living while preserving their traditional lifestyles.

Shangrila Farm

Shangrila Farms is a social enterprise that sell natural natural food and beverages, and donates a portion of profits to their non-profit partner, the Yunnan Mountain Heritage Foundation, to support projects in poverty alleviation, cultural preservation and community service in mountainous Yunnan province.  They also offer trainings to our producers and buy at fair trade prices, and advocate organic farming.

Roundabout Charity Distribution Store

Roundabout is a not-for-profit organization which collects donated clothes and household items. Parts of donations are sold to pay for the distribution of the remaining items, which are sent to poverty-stricken areas. The store is open Mondays through Saturday 9:30 am to 6 pm. Volunteers are always welcome.

Crazy Bake

Crazy bake is a program involving the mentally ill at their facility just outside of Beijing. Crazy bake’s goal is to improve the patients living conditions by giving the patients a meaningful task that is within their capabilities, while allowing the Beijing Chaoyang District Mental Health Service Center to raise funds for its facility and become more self-sustaining

BrandNu

Located in Wudaoying Hutong in Dongcheng district, Brand Nu’s walls are lined with handicrafts from a number of different nongovernmental organization supported projects aimed at benefiting women across the country through economic empowerment and cultural education.
